The breeding stock of many breeders has very little diversity. There were only 70 or so Chinese Shar-Pei brought to the United States back in the 70's when the breed was declared to be on the verge of extinction. These 70 individuals are genetically similar to almost all the Shar-Pei's you will see in the U.S. An even smaller percentage of these dogs are responsible for all the dogs in a geographical area. Our breeding stock has been acquired by bring dogs from diverse areas to enhance the genetic make-up of our puppies. Of course, not just geographical information is being considered, we consider a pedigree diverse from potential mates, championship titles throughout the bloodlines, physical characteristics, health, and temperment to all be the keys to awesome puppies.

I like dogs better [than people]. They give you unconditional love. They either lick your face or bite you, but you always know where they're coming from. With people, you never know which ones will bite. The difference between dogs and men is that you know where dogs sleep at night. |
