Why are we so careful placing our puppies?

One day in Feburary 2009, I went to Craig's List (www.craigslist.org) for the Charlotte, NC area. I searched for "Shar" and found the following ads. This is not a condemnation of the people placing the ads, but merely real-world examples of improper dog placement and illustrates why we are so careful in placing our puppies.

Wondeful 2 year old female ,spayed, fully housebroken, Chinese Shar Pei with guaranteed eye surgery. Lola is not very happy with our Great Danes. We love her dearly, but she needs a home where she can have a mostly indoor enviroment. She does not do very well with temperature changes. Our Daughter moved home unexpectedly with her and she just is not adapting well to outdoor big dog life. She has not been around childen much, though she seems to have an even temperament. We are seeking a good home for her where she can be the Top dog and not have to struggle for attention. Only very serious inquires. We are not desparate to find her a new home, just want her to be a happy well loved dog.Prefer a home with no other dogs , or at least smaller dogs. She gets along well with cats. I do not mean to sound like she fusses with the bigger dogs, it is more the other way around and the outdoor life that she needs an escape from. e We will be happy to forward pictures after a phone inverview. Thank you . Please call and leave a message if we do not answer.

This puppy now has to contend with multiple moves, multiple owner changes, and multiple home environments. It will be impossible for this puppy to ever live up to the full potential that it could have had with a one owner lifetime home. That is not to say that this puppy cannot be a great pet, but to be so will be to overcome the scars of improper placement.

I have a Sharpei/Lab Mix. His name is Speedy. He's all black and is almost 4 months old. hes a great dog. great around other dogs and expecially children. i have a yr. old he's great around. i have got to many dogs and he's the one i have to great rid of.rehoming Fee is asked.e-mail me and let me Know if you want him..

This puppy is the result of incorrect breeding. Spay and neuter programs are critical to keep puppies like Speedy out of the shelters.

Beautiful Cat and Dog need a home: My dog, Leah, is a full bread Shar-pei (she has what is called a bear coat). She is special-needs so she requires a very patient and loving owner. She was abused the first year of her life so she is scared of people but she loves other animals, water, being outside, and long walks. She does not bite. My cat, Princess, is a calico and is very outgoing, and as such is loved by many. She has a great personality. I would love to keep them together because they are like sisters and are very attached to one another. However, I know that may not be possible. They are both up to date on their shots and just had their comprehensive exams. If you're interested please e-mail.

Such needless suffering caused by the sub-human previous owners. Tales such as this are heartbreaking but need to be told to enlighten the masses.

We have a 6 month old male Shar Pei that we are needing to find a good home for. He is a great dog but our other dog does not like him. We have only had him for about 3 weeks and it is just not working. He is the Bear Coat red Shar Pei. There is a 50.00 rehoming fee for him.

If we do the math, a six month old puppy that has been in this home for three weeks has had at least two owners. Where is the breeder of this puppy? Ethical breeders would rescue this puppy from the whirlwind of poor placements.

WANTED^^^^^^^^^^ SHAR PEI ^^^^PUPPY^^^^^^ (CHARLOTTE)

WANTED A FEMALE PUP I DO NOT HAVE A LOT OF MONEY SO PLEASE MUST BE RESONABLE PRICE PLEASE SEND A PIC ,

Although Shar-Pei do not cost any more to keep or buy than any other pure-breed dog, there are costs associated with their upkeep. Proper diet, veterinary visits, vaccinations, toys, crates and so on all cost money. If they get a puppy, do you think it will have proper care? Since they specified female, one might assume there is no plans to spay/neuter. Is this another puppy-mill in the making?
